三重回波
所有的超声测厚仪都应按照被测材料的声速标定。涂层中的声速与金属不同，在测量中须去除涂层的厚度。三次回波能在测量中能去除所有涂层的影响。
工作原理：
发射的超声波脉冲穿过涂层与金属并从底部反射。反射回波在金属中往复反射，每次只有一小部分回波穿过涂层返回。两个小回波之间的时间即是声波在金属中的传播时间，与金属厚度相对应。回波不需要是连续的，仪器可以自动判断回波并计算出厚度值。每次确认-小的三个回波，即自动测量验证系统（AMVS）。
